Leading the way in the custom design,
engineering and fabrication of shielding and temporary
storage for Low Level Radioactive Waste (LLRW). Providing
the Nuclear Power Industry, DOE, DOD and other
governmental agencies, engineered product designs and
fabrication of radiation shielding and LLRW containers
that are: Modular, Reusable and cost effective.
|
SAM 9
Shields |
Specially designed to reduce employee downtime
and to maximize efficiency by reducing
background radiation levels at the Small
Article Monitor. Unique design is easily
portable. All stainless steel with an
attractive finish.
|
|
Secure Environmental Containers (SEC's)
|
For temporary storage of Low Level Radioactive
Waste. Optimized cylindrical and rectangular
configurations. Shielding thickness from 4 to
over 24 inches. "SEC" capacities to over 1300
cubic feet. 2, 3 & 5 modular piece assemblies to
match site crane capacity.
|
|
Modular Water Shields
|
All stainless steel construction. Ease of
mobility for use anywhere. Vent and fill/drain
hole on top and optional drain port on bottom.
Visual water level indicator.
|
|
Window Water Shields
|
Rugged stainless steel tank with acrylic
window on top half. Shielding equivalent of
1.5" lead (more available if required). Corner
eyebolts for easy lifting when empty. Casters
lower the shield to floor level when filled to
eliminate "toe shine".
|
|
Ball and Socket Shields
|
Constructed of steel reinforced concrete with
cylindrical ends that permit the shield to be
positioned at angles up to 45 degrees relative
to each other. Interlocking ends significantly
reduce any streaming at interface points.
Carbon steel "straps" function as stabilizer
plates. Also available as stainless steel
water shields.
|
|
Doublewal™ |
Walls are constructed of hollow concrete
blocks then backfilled with gravel or soil.
These may be used to shield sources of
radiation in storage. Almost any height, width
and shielding thickness is available.
|
|
Modular Shield
Logs |
Our standard size measures one foot square by
eight feet in length and weighs approximately
1,200 pounds. Stepped interlocking design
reduces streaming at the adjoining log seam.
Can be stacked to construct a shield wall. Two
threaded inserts facilitate lifting. Available
painted or unpainted.

|
Drum Shields |
When doorways, elevators, floor drains and
other obstacles make moving LLW from place to
place a challenge, consider a 30 or 55 gallon
Drum Shield. Reusable, transportable either by
crane, built in casters or fork truck, the
Drum Shield offers an inexpensive way to
transfer LLW.
|
|
Sample Storage Shields |
Constructed of 11 gauge stainless steel and
lead, for durability and ease of
decontamination. Used for storage during
characterization and testing of LLRW samples.
Attractive, safe approach to shielding.
Standard model offers stainless steel lockable
hinged door which provides access to the
8"x12"x24" internal area. Other sizes designed
to suit your needs.
|
|
Frisker Caves |
To get an accurate reading of small tools and
routinely used articles; to cut down
background radiation, count time, and exposed
lead bricks, use the Dufrane Frisker Cave.
Standard model inside dimensions: 8" wide
13.75" deep 8" high. Lead bricks are used to
surround internal cavity.
|
|
Process Shields |
Generally cylindrical steel reinforced
concrete container. A fully removable lid with
central port/plug for process equipment. The
shields are sized to accept standard HIC's.
Special units are available as modular panels
where access, size or weight restrictions are
specified.
