Designed to be stand alone or interlocking, the lead blankets may be overlapped and may extend to the floor to reduce “toe shine” radiation. Casters are placed to enhance stability and for ease of mobility. ![]() Blanket Rack assemblies are constructed of carbon steel, square and rectangular tubing, welded to 8” structural channels. Hangars are placed on each side of the top beam with spacing consistent with the size of the blankets used. The first hangar is offset from the edge of the rack to allow overlap of blankets between units. Each rack is fitted with four swivel casters rated at 500 lbs each to facilitate mobility. The casters are located to provide a stable wheelbase. Lead Blanket Racks are custom designed by Dufrane Nuclear Shielding, Inc (DNSI) and are fabricated to structurally support 2,200 lbs. The design reduces “Toe Shine” by allowing the blankets to overlap at the bottom edge and effectively extend protection at the floor surface. Each Blanket Rack has the capability of standing alone or the ability to interlock multiple racks to form an extended or solid wall. Guide plates are provided for interlocking. DNSI’s Blanket Racks are fabricated with continuous welds and a finish coat of enamel paint for ease of decontamination. Various options include single or double hangers (allows two rows of blankets), as well as oversized casters for special applications. Dufrane will work closely with you, your site ALARA Coordinator, and your engineering group to assure the best design for each application.
