Specifically designed for turbine deck pipe and valve applications, these shields reduce radiation on pipes from 2 to 24
inches. Appropriate penetrations allow easy access for monitoring gauges, etc.

Dufrane has provided pipe shielding in various sizes in the range of 2-inch diameter through 48-inch diameter pipe
detector shield and a 24-inch diameter turbine deck pipe/valve shield. The majority of shields are lead encased in
carbon or stainless steel with the option of a solid steel shield as well. A large shield of note was utilized on a
Turbine Deck to shield 24” diameter pipes.
This shield was essentially a cave constructed of 10” thick
reinforced concrete with penetrations for Monitoring Gauges. Dufrane Nuclear Shielding, Inc has worked closely with
site engineering groups to determine how best to support the shields. Smaller shields are a two-part unit with straps
to secure in place. Photos on this page illustrate the wide variety of Pipe Shields that we have designed and supplied.
